Senior Project Manager – Data Center Construction

Position Overview

An established construction firm is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead complex data center construction projects in the Richmond, VA area. This is a high-impact role ideal for professionals experienced in electrical systems, white space build-outs, and mission-critical infrastructure. You’ll oversee all phases of project delivery, from estimating and scheduling to procurement, vendor coordination, billing, and team leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with project specifications, safety policies, and company standards

• Create estimates, scopes of work, and project budgets

• Establish timelines and allocate resources to meet project deadlines

• Manage day-to-day project operations, supervising staff, subcontractors, and vendors

• Lead efforts in billing, collections, and project financial forecasting

• Coordinate with clients and internal teams to clarify expectations and resolve challenges

• Conduct site visits to assess construction progress and address issues

• Monitor procurement schedules and manage material delivery

• Lead RFP and change order management

• Provide project updates to senior management

• Support workforce planning and mentor junior team members

• Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in construction project management

• 1+ years managing electrical scopes for data centers or critical infrastructure

• Strong working knowledge of electrical distribution, structured cabling, and white space construction

• Experience in retrofits within operational facilities

• Ability to manage high-pressure timelines, vendors, and large field teams

• Proficient in project scheduling, resource management, and reporting

• Effective communicator with strong problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with mission-critical construction projects

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field OR equivalent experience with trade certifications (e.g., journeyman/master electrician)

• PMP or PMI-SP certification

• Experience using tools such as ConEst, Salesforce, and Google Suite
