Senior Project Manager – Data Center Construction Location: Richmond, VA Employment Type: Full-Time | Direct Hire
Position Overview
An established construction firm is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead complex data center construction projects in the Richmond, VA area. This is a high-impact role ideal for professionals experienced in electrical systems, white space build-outs, and mission-critical infrastructure. You’ll oversee all phases of project delivery, from estimating and scheduling to procurement, vendor coordination, billing, and team leadership.
Key Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with project specifications, safety policies, and company standards

Create estimates, scopes of work, and project budgets

Establish timelines and allocate resources to meet project deadlines

Manage day-to-day project operations, supervising staff, subcontractors, and vendors

Lead efforts in billing, collections, and project financial forecasting

Coordinate with clients and internal teams to clarify expectations and resolve challenges

Conduct site visits to assess construction progress and address issues

Monitor procurement schedules and manage material delivery

Lead RFP and change order management
-
Provide project updates to senior management

Support workforce planning and mentor junior team members

Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement
Required Qualifications
-
3+ years of experience in construction project management

1+ years managing electrical scopes for data centers or critical infrastructure

Strong working knowledge of electrical distribution, structured cabling, and white space construction

Experience in retrofits within operational facilities

Ability to manage high-pressure timelines, vendors, and large field teams

Proficient in project scheduling, resource management, and reporting

Effective communicator with strong problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications

Experience with mission-critical construction projects

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field OR equivalent experience with trade certifications (e.g., journeyman/master electrician)

PMP or PMI-SP certification

Experience using tools such as ConEst, Salesforce, and Google Suite
