Ascendo Resources is working with a company in Melbourne, Florida who is looking for a senior accountant.
The position is five days onsite.
Job Summary
This role is responsible for maintaining corporate accounting functions, including journal entries, reconciliations, fixed asset management, financial reporting, and support for compliance with accounting standards. The Accountant works closely with various departments and contributes to a streamlined, accurate, and controlled financial close process.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain and manage lease accounting schedules in accordance with ASC 842 and applicable US GAAP requirements
- Oversee warranty-related accounting processes, including accruals, reconciliations, and coordination with the warranty team
- Perform fixed asset accounting, including capitalization policy adherence, asset lifecycle management, depreciation, and reporting (e.g., rollforwards, capital plans, and ad hoc studies)
- Assist in preparing monthly internal financial statements and semi-annual financial consolidation packages
- Complete monthly bank reconciliations across corporate accounts
- Prepare and manage month-end journal entries and account reconciliations for corporate operations
- Support the intercompany reconciliation process by matching and clearing transactions as part of the monthly close
- Ensure adherence to internal controls and contribute to maintaining a strong control environment
Non-Principal Duties
- Support automation and process improvement efforts to transition from manual workflows to a technology-driven environment
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- At least 5 years of corporate accounting experience, including:
- Initiating, posting, and reviewing journal entries
- Preparing account reconciliations
- Experienced in Fixed-Assets accounting
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office tools
- Prior experience using SAP or similar ERP systems
- Experienced in account maintenance
- Detail-oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience collaborating with IT teams to implement automation and system improvements
Working Conditions
- Primarily office-based role
- Extensive computer use required
