Our prestigious client, located in Union, NJ, is seeking an accomplished and driven Senior Accountant to join their dynamic team. Position Summary

 

The Senior Accountant will oversee critical aspects of the accounting cycle, including month-end and quarter-end close, account reconciliations, audit preparation, and full-cycle Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) management. Responsibilities include preparing journal entries, analyzing account activity, reconciling balance sheet accounts, and ensuring accurate financial reporting. This role will also partner with cross-functional teams to resolve discrepancies, support compliance requirements, and drive process improvements within the finance function.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Lead month-end and quarter-end closing activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and variance analysis.
  • Prepare recurring and non-recurring journal entries for cash, prepaids, fixed assets, intercompany, and accruals.
  • Manage Accounts Receivable (AR): invoicing, collections, cash applications, credit issuance, and resolving billing discrepancies.
  • Oversee Accounts Payable (AP): vendor invoice processing, disbursements, reconciliations, and issue resolution.
  • Reconcile and analyze balance sheet accounts monthly; ensure reconciling items are identified and resolved promptly.
  • Maintain roll-forward schedules for select accounts to support audit and compliance requirements.
  • Reconcile intercompany balances and prepare related journal entries.
  • Prepare and compile supporting documentation for annual external audits and periodic bank audits.
  • Perform financial analysis to support monthly and quarterly reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders (sales, operations, procurement, etc.) to improve accounting processes and reporting accuracy.
  • Assist with special accounting projects and continuous process improvement initiatives.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field (CPA preferred).
  • Minimum of 2 years of general accounting experience, with hands-on involvement in month-end closing and AR/AP management.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Experience with ERP/accounting systems such as Microsoft Dynamics Business Central, C-Soft, or similar strongly preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills, high attention to detail, and proven ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.
