Ascendo Resources is actively seeking a Senior Accountant for a 4+ month contract assignment supporting a well-established non-profit organization with year-end close and audit preparation.

Our client is located in Brooklyn, NY 11206.

The Senior Accountant will bring strong non-profit accounting experience with expertise in general ledger reconciliations, year-end close, audit preparation, and financial reporting. This role will be primarily focused on hands-on accounting work, not forecasting, budgeting, or system implementation.

Location: Brooklyn, NY (Hybrid: 3 days on-site, 2 days remote)
Hours: Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (35-hour work week)
Pay Rate: $50/hr – $65/hr (depending on experience)

Responsibilities:

• Perform general ledger reconciliations and ensure accuracy of financial records.

• Assist with year-end close activities and audit preparation.

• Support day-to-day accounting functions, including journal entries and account analysis.

• Maintain compliance with accounting policies and procedures.

• Collaborate with the Controller and fiscal team to ensure timely reporting.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with required non-profit accounting background.

• Strong knowledge of GAAP and non-profit accounting principles.

• Proficiency in QuickBooks or Yardi (preferred) and Microsoft Excel.

• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.

• Ability to commit to a 4-month engagement with at least 3 days on-site per week.

Nice to Have:

• Experience with Yardi software.

• Prior work in non-profit organizations (in addition to the required background).
