A Medical Assistant supports physicians and other healthcare professionals in delivering high-quality patient care. This role combines clinical and administrative tasks to ensure the efficient operation of a medical facility.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Duties:

Prepare patients for examinations and procedures

Take and record vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration)

Collect and prepare laboratory specimens

Perform basic laboratory tests

Administer medications as directed by a physician

Assist with minor procedures

Maintain exam room cleanliness and restock supplies
Administrative Duties:

Schedule appointments and manage patient records
-
Greet and check in patients
-
Answer phone calls and respond to patient inquiries

Complete insurance forms and handle billing

Update patient medical histories and input data into electronic health records (EHR)
Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required
-
Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred

Certification (CMA, RMA, or equivalent) often preferred or required

Basic life support (BLS) certification may be required

Familiarity with EHR systems and medical terminology
