We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Legal Assistant to provide administrative and clerical support to our legal team. The Legal Assistant will assist attorneys in preparing legal documents, conducting research, managing case files, and maintaining communication with clients and court officials. This role requires strong organizational skills, discretion, and an understanding of legal procedures and terminology.

 

CASE MANAGEMENT

  • Interviewing applicants and inputting information into case management system
  • Phone calls from/to clients and Social Security Administration and ODAR (the hearing office)
  • Video conferencing, telephone, email, letter, and in-person applicant and client contact
  • Drafting letters and forms, including medical record requests
  • Submitting records to ODAR via fax or scanning and email
  • Calendaring deadlines and scheduling appointments
  • Documenting calls, correspondence, etc., in case management system

ADMINISTRATIVE

  • Copying, scanning, organizing files
  • Uploading applicant documents to Legal Server
  • Any other tasks that may be needed to provide adequate services to our clients

QUALIFICATIONS:
 

  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in legal administration, legal studies, or such work deemed equivalent by the company.
  • English/Spanish bilingual preferred but not required.
  • Ideal candidate has a working knowledge of the Social Security Administration’s disability process.
  • Ability to work with clients with various physical and mental impairments.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, including the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word), Adobe, and Google applications.
