Our client, a well-established real estate firm, is seeking a Property Accountant to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a collaborative group focused on maintaining a strong portfolio of owned, managed, and joint venture commercial properties, including shopping centers.

Position Overview:
The Property Accountant will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting functions for a portfolio of properties. This includes maintaining the books and records, preparing monthly financial reports, and assisting with annual budgets and quarterly reporting packages.

Hours: Mon-Fri, 9am - 5pm ; 4 days onsite and 1 WFH 

Salary: $80,000- $100,000/year

Responsibilities Include:

  • Maintain general ledger accounts and provide monthly account analysis
  • Prepare quarterly reporting packages (property overviews, asset/liability analysis, budget vs. actual, mortgage info, leasing updates, capital expenditures)
  • Review and approve property invoices
  • Record tenant receipts and review property cash flow
  • Reconcile tenant security accounts quarterly
  • Manage mortgage-related tasks: monthly payments, escrow tracking, lender reporting
  • Support the annual budget process in partnership with Property Management and Lease Admin
  • Process partner distributions
  • Track utility accounts for tenant expenses, sub-metered areas, and vacant units
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of accounting experience (real estate experience preferred)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA not required)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is a must
  • Experience with Yardi or other accounting software a plus
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
