Ascendo Resources is currently seeking a Payroll Manager for a full-time, hybrid role located in New York City. 

This position offers a salary up to $90,000 and offers great benefits and an existing team to manage. 

Our client is a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to providing affordable and supportive housing. This role is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll for both union and non-union staff across multiple locations. The Payroll Manager will supervise a small team, ensure compliance with city, state, and federal payroll regulations, and serve as a key liaison between payroll, HR, and other internal departments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the preparation and processing of weekly and bi-weekly payrolls, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Supervise payroll staff and support cross-departmental coordination.
  • Respond to payroll-related inquiries and resolve discrepancies.
  • Prepare reports including W2s, 1095s, ACA, and other filings.
  • Support internal and external audits and ensure strong payroll controls.
  • Maintain knowledge of relevant employment tax legislation and labor laws.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred.
  • At least 5 years of payroll experience, including union payroll and multi-site processing.
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Proficiency with Dayforce (Ceridian) is required.
  • Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to meeting critical deadlines.
