Staff Accountant – Banking Industry (Brickell, Miami)
Overview: A well-established financial institution in the heart of Brickell is seeking a Staff Accountant to join its accounting team. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, solid knowledge of accounting principles, and experience working within the financial services or banking sector. This role offers exposure to a variety of accounting functions, including general ledger management, reconciliations, and financial reporting, with opportunities for professional growth in a collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring accuracy and adherence to GAAP.

Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations across multiple accounts.

Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes, including accruals, prepaid expenses, and intercompany transactions.

Maintain the general ledger and support the preparation of internal financial statements.

Reconcile loan portfolios, deposits, and investment accounts as part of daily banking operations.

Support external audits by preparing schedules and providing requested documentation.

Review and analyze financial data to identify discrepancies or variances.

Assist in regulatory and compliance reporting as required by the banking industry.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Finance, Treasury, and Compliance.
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

2–4 years of accounting experience, preferably within banking or financial services.

Strong understanding of GAAP and general ledger systems.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (experience with Fiserv, Jack Henry, or similar platforms a plus).

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
