World gaming company with over a billion dollars in revenue is seeking an Senior Accountant to work closely with the Accounting Manager, This is a hybrid opportunity located in Queens, NY 11420. Offering a base with competitive benefits and growth. The Senior Accountant will manage high-volume revenue transactions, and assisting in the preparation of complex financial statements.
The ideal Senior Accountant holds the following experience:
- 4+ years of progressive accounting experience. Degree in accounting or finance. CPA candidate +
- Strong technical background; software experience with strong ERP systems. Proficient with EXCEL.
- US GAAP knowledge
- Hospitality industry is a plus.
The day to day responsibilities are as follows:
- Financial Closing & Reporting: Lead month-end and year-end closing activities, including the preparation of detailed journal entries and complex account reconciliations (bank, cash on hand).
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all financial activities comply with New York State gaming regulations, Internal Revenue Service requirements, and internal control procedures.
- Audit Coordination: Serve as a primary point of contact for internal and external auditors, preparing necessary work papers and ensuring timely resolution of audit inquiries.
- Budget & Variance Analysis: Perform detailed analysis of financial results, comparing actual performance against budgets and prior periods to provide actionable insights to leadership.
- Internal Controls: Maintain and refine internal control procedures to safeguard assets and ensure the accuracy of financial records.
- Staff Mentorship: Guide and mentor junior accounting staff, reviewing their work for accuracy and compliance with departmental standards.
