Leasing Specialist – Affordable Housing (Temporary to Potential Permanent)

Location: Jamaica, Queens, NY
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM-5:00 PM (35-hour workweek)
Pay Rate: $40/hr - $50/hr
Duration: Ongoing temporary assignment with potential to convert to permanent for the right candidate

A leading New York real estate organization is seeking a Leasing Specialist to support leasing operations across three affordable housing communities in Jamaica, Queens. This role will provide temporary coverage for the leasing team with the opportunity to transition into a permanent position.

The Leasing Specialist will be based out of The Crossings and will support leasing activities across three nearby properties. The locations are within approximately a 15-minute walk of one another, allowing the specialist to rotate between sites based on business needs.

Locations:

• The Crossings (Home Base): 147-40 Archer Ave, Jamaica, NY 11435
• Ruby Square: 166-20 90th Avenue, Jamaica, NY 11432
• The Monarch: 92-33 Guy R Brewer Blvd, Jamaica, NY 11433

Responsibilities:

• Process affordable housing applications and intake documentation
• Review applicant files for completeness and compliance
• Prepare landlord packets and voucher documentation
• Work with affordable housing agencies including NYCHA and HPD
• Coordinate resident move-ins and move-outs
• Conduct apartment tours and assist prospective residents
• Maintain accurate tenant files and ensure audit readiness
• Support annual and interim recertifications
• Assist with affordable housing compliance requirements
• Manage leasing activities across multiple properties
• Partner with onsite Property Managers and Assistant Community Managers

Qualifications:

• 2+ years of affordable housing leasing experience
• 2+ years of Yardi experience
• Experience working with affordable housing programs, vouchers, and compliance requirements
• Knowledge of NYCHA, HPD, and tax credit housing preferred
• Experience with tenant recertifications and interim recertifications
• Understanding of Fair Housing regulations
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently
• Excellent communication and customer service skills

• Detail-oriented leasing professional with affordable housing experience
• Comfortable supporting multiple properties and onsite teams
• Strong knowledge of affordable housing documentation and compliance processes
• Familiar with applicant eligibility, tenant files, and audit preparation

• Supports three affordable housing properties in Jamaica, Queens
• Each property has an onsite Property Manager and Assistant Community Manager
• Candidate will rotate between locations based on leasing needs
