We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Patent Paralegal to join our legal team. As a Patent Paralegal, you will provide crucial support in managing patent filings and prosecution processes. You will work closely with patent attorneys and inventors to ensure all patent-related documents and deadlines are met accurately and efficiently.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in drafting, filing, and managing patent applications with the USPTO and international patent offices.
  • Conduct patent searches and prior art searches to assist attorneys in assessing patentability and infringement issues.
  • Maintain and update patent dockets and databases to track deadlines, filings, and correspondence.
  • Communicate with clients, foreign associates, and government agencies regarding patent matters.
  • Prepare and file responses to office actions, including gathering necessary information and documents.
  • Assist in preparing legal documents, including assignments, declarations, and powers of attorney.
  • Coordinate and manage document production and discovery related to patent litigation matters.
  • Provide administrative support to patent attorneys, including calendar management and scheduling.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience as a patent paralegal in a law firm or corporate legal department.
  • Proficiency in using patent databases (e.g., PAIR, WIPO, EPO) and document management systems.
  • Strong understanding of patent prosecution procedures and deadlines.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in work product.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with electronic filing systems (e.g., EFS-Web, PCT-SAFE).
  • Familiarity with IP docketing software (e.g., CPI, FoundationIP).
