Ascendo Recruiting is working with a rapidly growing, family-owned manufacturer of industrial equipment is seeking a skilled Quality Engineer to join its production team in Tampa, Florida. This full-time, on-site role is critical to maintaining and enhancing product quality across our manufacturing processes, including welding, assembly, and powder coating.

Position Overview

The Quality Engineer will take ownership of quality systems and continuous improvement initiatives. You will work cross-functionally with production, engineering, and supply chain teams to ensure our products meet rigorous quality and performance standards. Candidates should have a strong background in manufacturing quality, ideally with experience in equipment manufacturing or related fields.

Key Responsibilities

Process Development & Improvement

  • Create and improve quality procedures, work instructions, control plans, and FMEAs.
  • Integrate quality systems across all phases of the manufacturing process.
  • Champion best practices for quality engineering.

Quality Assurance & Control

  • Conduct regular process and product audits.
  • Monitor and report on key quality metrics.
  • Lead investigations for internal and external quality issues using RCA and CAPA.
  • Define inspection criteria for incoming, in-process, and final checks.

Supplier Quality

  • Evaluate and qualify suppliers in collaboration with the supply chain team.
  • Monitor and manage supplier performance; lead corrective actions when needed.

Training & Culture

  • Train production staff on quality protocols and process improvements.
  • Promote a company-wide culture of quality and accountability.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate quality records and reports.
  • Present quality performance data and trends to management teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering (or related field).
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Quality Engineer in a manufacturing setting.
  • Experience with heavy equipment or complex mechanical assemblies preferred.
  • Working knowledge of welding processes (MIG, TIG, robotic) and powder coating a strong plus.
  • Familiarity with quality tools like Lean, Six Sigma, FMEA, SPC, 8D, and root cause analysis techniques.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Are you familiar with quality tools and methodologies like Lean, Six Sigma, 8D, 5 Whys, or SPC, and how have you used them in past roles?
