A prominent national distributor is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their team! This hybrid role, based in New Hyde Park, offers a salary of up $105,000 with bonus.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting
• 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably with exposure to both public and private sectors
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Extensive experience in preparing schedules, managing processes, conducting reconciliations, and performing variance (flux) analysis
• Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while effectively managing tight deadlines

Responsibilities: 

• Prepare and post month-end journal entries for assigned general ledger accounts.
• Conduct monthly and quarterly account reconciliations to ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies in general ledger accounts.
• Collaborate with Accounts Payable, Payroll, FP&A, and Operations teams to facilitate the closing process and anticipate process changes.
• Lead efforts to implement best practices for streamlining and standardizing accounting processes.
• Analyze complex financial reports and records to provide insights.
• Perform variance analyses, identifying trends and investigating significant discrepancies.
• Assist in interim and annual audits by providing supporting schedules and collaborating with other departments to gather data.
• Prepare financial statement footnotes for bank reporting.
• Assist in documenting accounting processes and internal controls.
• Coordinate complex accounting projects with other team members or departments.
• Participate in system implementations, special projects, and ad hoc analyses.
