The Outpatient Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of outpatient services to ensure smooth patient flow, high-quality care, and efficient administrative processes. This role acts as a liaison between patients, healthcare providers, and administrative staff to coordinate appointments, manage records, and support the overall patient experience.
Key Responsibilities

Greet and register patients, verify insurance information, and ensure completion of necessary documentation.

Schedule, confirm, and coordinate outpatient appointments and follow-up visits.

Serve as the primary point of contact for patient inquiries, referrals, and appointment-related issues.

Maintain accurate patient records, charts, and confidential information in compliance with HIPAA and organizational policies.

Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare staff to coordinate patient care.

Monitor daily clinic flow to ensure patients are seen in a timely manner.

Assist with billing, insurance verification, and prior authorization processes as needed.

Generate and distribute reports related to scheduling, patient volume, and operational efficiency.

Support quality improvement initiatives and patient satisfaction programs.

Perform other administrative and clinical support duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business, or related field preferred.

Minimum 1–2 years of experience in a healthcare or outpatient setting.

Familiarity with medical terminology, scheduling systems, and insurance processes preferred.
Skills & Abilities:

Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) and scheduling software.
