Ascendo Resources is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant with a strong background in non-profit accounting with Yardi experience.

Our client is an established non-profit located in Brooklyn, NY. Salary range is $80,000 to $90,000 a year and offers a hybrid schedule.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the month-end close process, preparing and reviewing account reconciliations—with a particular focus on accounts receivable—and ensuring financial accuracy and compliance in alignment with non-profit accounting standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and lead the month-end close process, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations
• Reconcile accounts receivable and related sub-ledgers to ensure accuracy and timely collection
• Maintain general ledger integrity and prepare financial reports for internal and external stakeholders
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and non-profit financial reporting standards
• Assist with annual audit preparation and liaise with external auditors
• Prepare financial analysis and ad hoc reports for management and board meetings
• Collaborate with program and development teams to support financial tracking and budgeting
• Utilize Yardi to manage accounting functions, reporting, and data integrity

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CPA track a plus)
• Minimum 3-5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a non-profit environment
• Proficiency in Yardi is required
• Strong understanding of GAAP and non-profit accounting principles
• Proven experience in month-end close and accounts receivable reconciliations
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
