Job Summary:
The Housing Navigator is responsible for assisting individuals and families experiencing homelessness or housing instability in locating, securing, and maintaining safe, affordable housing. This position involves building relationships with landlords, coordinating with service providers, and supporting clients through housing processes from application to move-in and beyond.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive housing assessments with clients to determine needs, preferences, and eligibility.

  • Assist clients in searching for appropriate housing options, completing applications, and navigating lease agreements.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with property owners and managers to identify available housing units.

  • Coordinate with case managers, social workers, and external agencies to support clients’ housing stability.

  • Provide education on tenants' rights and responsibilities, budgeting, and independent living skills.

  • Support clients through move-in, including inspections, deposits, and utility setup.

  • Maintain accurate documentation and case notes in compliance with program requirements.

  • Monitor clients’ housing stability and provide follow-up support as needed.

  • Advocate on behalf of clients facing housing barriers such as poor credit, rental history, or legal issues.

Qualifications:

  • 1–3 years of experience in housing assistance, case management, or related services.

  • Strong knowledge of local housing markets, tenant/landlord law, and housing resources.

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently and manage a diverse caseload.

  • Proficiency in case management software and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (if required for fieldwork).

Preferred:

  • Bilingual in English and another language (e.g., Spanish).

  • Experience working with homeless populations or individuals with complex needs.
