Job Summary:
The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing the accounting and financial reporting functions related to warranty programs, claims processing, and associated liabilities. This role ensures accurate revenue recognition, claim accruals, cost allocations, and compliance with company policies and accounting standards. The position also supports audits, process improvements, and cross-departmental collaboration with operations, claims management, and customer service teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Accounting & Reporting

Prepare and maintain accurate general ledger entries related to warranty expenses, claims reserves, recoveries, and deferred revenue.

Ensure timely month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closings for warranty and claims accounting areas.

Reconcile warranty liability and claims clearing accounts monthly and investigate variances.

Review claims data and ensure correct cost allocation to appropriate products, contracts, or cost centers.

Support preparation of financial statements in compliance with GAAP/IFRS and company policies.
Warranty & Claims Analysis

Monitor trends in warranty claims, costs, and provisions to ensure appropriate financial recognition.

Work with operations and claims teams to validate claims data and ensure accurate financial impact recording.

Prepare warranty reserve forecasts, analyses, and reports for management.

Assist in developing and refining financial models for claims estimation and warranty risk evaluation.
Audit & Compliance

Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and account reconciliations.

Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and company policies.

Participate in SOX compliance testing (if applicable).
Process Improvement

Identify opportunities for process automation and improved accuracy in warranty and claims accounting workflows.

Support implementation of ERP enhancements or new systems related to claims management and accounting integration.
Collaboration & Support

Partner with Finance, Claims, Operations, and Customer Service teams to ensure accurate and efficient data flow.

Provide training or guidance to junior accountants or claims finance staff.
Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred).

Experience: 4–7 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing, automotive, insurance, or warranty/claims industries.

Strong knowledge of GAAP/IFRS accounting principles.

Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar) and advanced Excel skills.

Proven analytical, problem-solving, and reconciliation abilities.

Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
