Purchasing Coordinator
Position Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented, organized, and proactive Purchasing Coordinator to manage procurement processes for our door and trim products. This role involves coordinating vendor relationships, maintaining inventory levels, and ensuring timely delivery of materials to meet project schedules. The ideal candidate will have experience in construction supply, strong communication skills, and a keen eye for cost control and accuracy.
Key Responsibilities · Source, order, and track materials, supplies, and inventory related to door, trim and stair parts products. · Establishes and maintains backup source for high-demand items. · Maintain accurate purchase orders, ensuring pricing and delivery timelines align with company requirements. · Communicate with suppliers and vendors to confirm product availability and delivery schedules. · Collaborate with Sales Manager, Operations Manager, and Inventory Coordinator to anticipate material needs. · Assesses current material availability; reasonably predicts future availability based on the market, delivery systems, and other variables. · Verify inventory levels and initiate reorders to maintain optimal stock levels. · Resolve discrepancies in orders, deliveries, or invoices promptly. · Maintain relationships with key vendors to ensure competitive pricing and reliable delivery. · Evaluate supplier performance based on quality, service, and cost. · Assist in negotiating pricing and terms for bulk or specialty orders. · Support process improvements related to procurement and inventory management.
Qualifications Required: · 2+ years of purchasing or supply chain experience (construction materials industry preferred) · Working knowledge of doors, trim, millwork, stair parts or building materials · Strong organizational and time-management skills · Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook) and purchasing/inventory suites in ERP’s · Excellent written and verbal communication skills Preferred: · Familiarity with takeoffs · Experience working with general contractors, home builders or related trades · Understanding of lead times, freight logistics, and vendor negotiation
