Our esteemed client is seeking an experienced and results-driven Commercial Banking Lender to join their organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for generating new business relationships and managing a portfolio of commercial loans, primarily focusing on Commercial & Industrial (C&I) lending. This position plays a critical role in loan analysis, approval recommendations, portfolio management, and providing exceptional service to clients. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of commercial lending practices, and the ability to foster long-term relationships with customers.

Key Responsibilities:

Loan Analysis & Underwriting:

  • Interview loan applicants and assess the financial health and creditworthiness of commercial businesses. Review and analyze financial statements, collateral, and related data to establish loan terms and make approval recommendations to senior management.

Loan Portfolio Management:

  • Manage an active portfolio of commercial loans. Ensure regular reviews of existing loans, including modifications, renewals, and covenant compliance. Coordinate with internal teams to ensure timely and accurate portfolio updates.

Customer Relationship Management:

  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with existing clients to support loan renewals, modifications, and cross-selling of Bank products and services. Provide a high level of customer service by promptly addressing client inquiries and concerns.

Credit Risk Assessment & Monitoring:

  • Oversee risk rating assessments and financial analysis for new loan requests. Monitor loan delinquencies and proactively address any potential issues by engaging with clients, offering restructuring options, and managing problem loans.

Collaborative Efforts:

  • Work closely with teams of commercial lenders, credit analysts, and senior loan officers. Assist in the approval of larger, more complex loans and contribute to team-driven loan portfolio management tasks.

Market & Industry Awareness:

  • Stay informed on local, regional, and national economic trends and their impact on commercial lending. Utilize this knowledge to anticipate market shifts and adjust lending strategies accordingly.

Reporting & Forecasting:

  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports on loan balances, portfolio performance, and financial projections. Help forecast future loan balances and trends based on current market conditions.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s degree is desirable).
  • 7+ years of commercial loan experience, with a focus on Commercial & Industrial (C&I) lending.

Certifications:

  • Certification through a formal credit program or participation in a bank-sponsored credit program is required.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong experience with financial analysis software and loan underwriting systems.
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of proficiency with current banking technology.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with keen attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proven time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
