Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and mission-driven Staff Accountant to support the financial operations of our nonprofit organization. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with month-end close, managing accounts payable and receivable, supporting grant tracking, and ensuring compliance with nonprofit accounting standards and donor requirements.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a collaborative environment and wants to contribute to a meaningful mission through strong financial stewardship.


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial records and journal entries
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes
  • Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and general ledger accounts
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions
  • Support payroll processing and employee reimbursements
  • Track and monitor grant funding, restricted funds, and donor reporting requirements
  • Assist with preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial reports
  • Maintain supporting documentation for audits and compliance reviews
  • Help ensure compliance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards
  • Collaborate with program managers regarding budget tracking and expense reporting
  • Support annual audit and tax preparation activities, including Form 990 documentation
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in nonprofit accounting
  • Knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit fund accounting principles
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
