Senior Accountant

Brooklyn, NY (Hybrid)

Salary: $80,000-$85,000

A well-established nonprofit organization in Brooklyn is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its finance team. This is a great opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys owning core general ledger activity, supporting month-end close, and partnering closely with leadership in a mission-driven environment.

This role reports to the Controller and will play a key part in financial reporting, reconciliations, audit preparation, and ongoing process improvement efforts. The position will begin with 3-4 days onsite during the first few weeks, then move into a hybrid schedule with 2 days remote on a rolling basis.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare journal entries, general ledger analyses, and financial statement packages
• Reconcile bank statements, general ledger accounts, and intercompany accounts
• Support month-end close, accruals, workpapers, and audit readiness
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, cash management, and internal transfers
• Analyze income statements, balance sheets, and budget variance reports
• Recommend and help implement process improvements and internal controls

Qualifications

• 2+ years of accounting experience
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
• Strong general ledger accounting experience, including bank recs, GL recs, AP, and AR
• Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
• Knowledge of GAAP
• Nonprofit experience is a plus, but not required
• Yardi Voyager experience is a plus
