Job Summary:

The External Reporting Manager is a results-driven professional responsible for leading the SEC reporting function, including the preparation and submission of all SEC filings and earnings releases. This role involves conducting technical accounting research, developing policy, and collaborating with business lines and corporate functions on financial reporting and accounting matters. The Manager will play a key leadership role in maintaining compliance with GAAP, SEC rules, and SOX requirements.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

SEC Reporting & Technical Accounting

  • Lead the preparation and timely submission of 10-Q, 10-K, earnings releases, and other SEC filings (e.g., 8-K, S-3, S-4, registration statements).
  • Conduct in-depth technical accounting research and ensure proper GAAP application in financial statements and disclosures.
  • Serve as liaison with internal and external auditors and regulatory bodies during audits, reviews, and exams.
  • Oversee financial systems, data integrity, and coordinate with business lines and accounting to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Implement and enhance process improvements to streamline reporting workflows.
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies, ensuring GAAP compliance and consistency across the organization.
  • Monitor emerging SEC rules and GAAP updates and communicate changes to senior leadership.
  • Ensure full compliance with SOX controls and maintain effective internal control over financial reporting.
  • Provide guidance on accounting for strategic initiatives, including M&A activity, new products, and other complex transactions.
  • Deliver ad hoc financial reports and participate in special projects as needed.

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license required
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in public accounting (preferably audit within financial services) and/or corporate SEC reporting for a public company
  • Extensive knowledge of US GAAP and SEC reporting standards
