Ascendo Resources is working with a client in Sarasota, Florida who is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Financial Accountant to join their finance team.

The role is in the 90k salary range and is five days onsite in Sarasota.

This role will support the Controller and Assistant Controller in the preparation of accurate and timely financial reports, including internal statements, external filings, budgets, and audits.

The ideal candidate has strong technical accounting skills, deep experience with general ledger and financial reporting, and a background in the Property and Casualty Insurance industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and statutory requirements
• Assist in the coordination and execution of audits and annual budget processes
• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts
• Support treasury management, income tax, and reinsurance accounting activities
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and provide financial insight to support business decisions
• Assist with process improvements and system enhancements to support financial reporting functions

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
• Minimum of 4 years of relevant accounting and financial reporting experience
• Strong understanding of GAAP; statutory accounting experience is highly preferred
• Experience in the Property and Casualty Insurance industry strongly preferred
• Public accounting experience is a plus
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word; experience with financial systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, Workday, NetSuite) is a plus
• Strong analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills
• CPA preferred but not required
