Ascendo Resources is actively seeking a Grants Accountant for an immediate, full-time hybrid opportunity (3 days onsite, 2 days remote).

Our client is a mission-driven nonprofit organization located in New York, NY (10014). Reporting to the Director of Grants, this role will be responsible for managing the accounting and reporting for a portfolio of City, State, and Federal grants that support targeted populations. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience with city and state contract billing using PASSport, strong Excel skills (including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs), and a solid background in grant accounting.

Hours: Mon-Fri, 9am - 5pm (35 hour work week)

Work Schedule: Hybrid - 3 days onsite / 2 days WFH

Salary: $75k - $85k

Responsibilities: 

• Prepare and analyze grant budgets and monthly expenditures
• Maintain compliance with city/state/federal contract billing
• Manage entries and reporting in portals such as PASSport, Grant Gateway, and Shelter Management Systems
• Collaborate with program teams on budget planning and modifications
• Handle monthly close entries, journal entries, and reimbursement requests
• Assist with audits and fiscal year budget reviews

Requirements:

• 5+ years of grant accounting and city/state contract billing experience
• Hands-on experience using NYC PASSport portal
• Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs) and general ledger systems
• Strong understanding of nonprofit financial reporting and compliance
