Our client, a rapidly growing national distributor generating over $2B in annual revenue, is seeking a Senior Accountant with a blend of public and private accounting experience to join their corporate accounting team in Nassau County, NY.

This is a hybrid role (3 days onsite / 2 days remote) that offers strong long-term growth potential and high visibility across the organization.

 Position Highlights:

• Title: Senior Accountant
• Location: Nassau County, NY (Hybrid – 3 days onsite, 2 remote)
• Compensation: $95,000–$105,000 base + discretionary year-end bonus
• Work Schedule: Business days 3, 4, and 5 of the month-end close must be onsite
• Team: Reports to the Accounting Manager; part of a sub-team of 3 within an 18-person accounting department

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare journal entries and support full month-end close process (7-day close)
• Analyze general ledger accounts and perform reconciliations
• Research and resolve accounting discrepancies
• Collaborate cross-functionally with AP, Payroll, FP&A, and Operations
• Assist with audits and prepare supporting schedules for interim/year-end processes
• Draft financial reports, memos, footnotes, and documentation for internal controls
• Participate in process improvement initiatives and system implementations

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
• 3–5+ years of accounting experience (mix of public/private preferred)
• CPA or CPA-eligible a strong plus
• Proficiency in GAAP and financial reporting
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, large data sets)
• Experience in ASC 842 lease accounting is a plus
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• Experience with Sage 300 and/or AS/400 is preferred
