We’re exclusively partnered with a mission-driven nonprofit organization based in Midtown Manhattan to identify a Payroll Manager to join their team. This is a growth-focused opportunity—the current Payroll Manager is planning to retire within the year and will remain on board as a consultant to ensure a smooth transition. You will receive direct mentorship, onboarding support, and gradually take over full responsibilities.


Work Schedule:

  • Monday–Friday | 35 hours/week

  • Flexible start times (8 AM–4 PM, 9 AM–5 PM, or 10 AM–6 PM)

  • During probation: 3 days onsite

  • Post-probation: 2 days onsite / 3 days remote


Team Structure:

  • Total Employees: 860

  • Payroll Team: 3

  • You’ll process 1/3 of the organization’s payroll across multiple pay groups


Key Responsibilities:

  • Process full-cycle payroll for ~285 employees (1/3 of total staff)

  • Manage union and non-union payrolls across four pay groups (hourly, salary, exempt, non-exempt)

  • Review timesheets and paychecks, update tax elections and deductions

  • Enter and review payroll data in Ceridian/Dayforce

  • Assist with payroll reports and reconcile spreadsheet updates


Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • 4+ years of payroll experience

  • Prior use of Ceridian/Dayforce (strongly preferred)

  • Experience with union payroll (preferred)

  • Strong attention to detail and comfort with process-oriented work

  • Ability to manage complex payroll structures
