Core Responsibilities

Strategic Financial Leadership

  • Lead development and management of the organization’s annual budget, long-range financial forecasts, and financial modeling.

  • Present strategic financial insights and performance updates to the Executive Team and Board Finance Committee.

  • Guide organizational decision‑making through scenario planning and thoughtful fiscal analysis.

Audit, Tax, and Compliance Oversight

  • Direct and manage external audit and annual tax filing processes in coordination with external auditors and advisors.

  • Ensure strict adherence to GAAP, federal/state laws, and nonprofit standards.

  • Implement, maintain, and continually improve internal financial controls.

Treasury and Investment Stewardship

  • Oversee all treasury functions, including cash flow forecasting, liquidity management, and reserve planning.

  • Maintain banking relationships and collaborate with the COO on overseeing the organization’s investment portfolio.

Grant & Federal Contract Financial Management

  • Lead financial oversight for federal, state, and private grants, ensuring compliance with OMB Uniform Guidance.

  • Manage federal audits and support cross-functional coordination for tracking and reporting restricted funds.

Billing, Receivables, and Payables Leadership

  • Oversee and ensure accuracy and efficiency in invoicing, collections, and accounts payable processes.

  • Improve systems and workflows to optimize operational compliance and accuracy.

Team Leadership & Organizational Partnership

  • Supervise and mentor a diverse finance team handling billing, AP, accounting, and forecasting.

  • Foster a culture of integrity, transparency, and mission alignment within the finance team.

  • Collaborate across departments to drive financial best practices and organization-wide fiscal transparency.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (Master’s in finance, business, or related field preferred)

  • CPA designation strongly preferred

  • 10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, ideally in nonprofit or government contracting sectors

  • 5+ years of staff supervision, team leadership experience

  • Deep expertise managing federal contracts, grants, and audit processes

  • Demonstrated success with audits, tax filing, treasury, and financial systems

  • Strong communication, analytical, and strategic thinking skills

  • Proficiency with financial software, especially Sage/Intacct and Salesforce (a plus)
