About the Opportunity:
A leading national manufacturing organization is seeking an experienced Safety & Process Safety Management (PSM) Manager to drive compliance, risk mitigation, and a culture of safety across its Hastings, Nebraska facility. This position plays a key leadership role in ensuring regulatory adherence (OSHA, EPA, and state/local), particularly for ammonia refrigeration systems and other covered processes.

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive safety, environmental, and PSM programs in compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other regulations.
- Serve as facility owner for PSM/RMP programs, maintaining compliance with all 14 elements of OSHA 29 CFR 1910.119.
- Lead process hazard analyses (PHA), management of change (MOC), and pre-startup safety reviews (PSSR).
- Conduct root cause investigations for incidents and manage corrective actions.
- Maintain documentation for mechanical integrity, operating procedures, and training.
- Oversee contractor safety and permit-to-work systems.
- Track and analyze leading/lagging safety metrics and report findings to management.
- Deliver employee safety training, including emergency response and compliance topics.
- Partner with maintenance, production, and engineering to ensure safe operational practices.
- Serve as site liaison for OSHA/EPA inspections and audits.
- Lead emergency response programs and drills involving ammonia and other hazardous materials.
- Foster a culture of safety through engagement, recognition, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of industrial safety experience, ideally within food manufacturing or ammonia refrigeration environments.
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA 1910.119 (PSM) and EPA 40 CFR Part 68 (RMP).
- Demonstrated success managing compliance programs, audits, and employee training.
Preferred:
- Professional certifications such as CSP, ASP, CIH, or OSHA 30.
- Formal PSM/RMP training and audit experience.
- Experience leading cross-functional safety initiatives and influencing cultural change.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Primarily plant-floor and office-based role with regular exposure to production environments, temperature variations, and noise.
- Must be able to stand, walk, and climb; wear appropriate PPE; and respond to emergencies as needed.
- Occasional travel for audits, training, or corporate meetings.
