Company Overview

A well-established, vertically integrated real estate investment and management firm overseeing a diverse portfolio of residential and retail properties across New York City.

The organization manages approximately 100 properties totaling 1,500+ units and offers a collaborative, fast-paced environment within its accounting and operations team.


Position Overview

The Accounts Payable Specialist will play a key role in managing full-cycle AP functions across the portfolio. This position reports directly to the CFO and works closely with property management, accounting teams, and offshore support staff to ensure accurate and timely processing of high-volume invoices.


Key Responsibilities

  • Process high-volume invoices (100–200 weekly), including data entry, coding, and payment processing
  • Perform 3-way matching for invoices (mortgage, utilities, vendor bills)
  • Manage recurring invoices and ensure timely payments
  • Maintain and enforce invoice approval workflows and internal controls
  • Reconcile expense reports and corporate credit card transactions
  • Process payroll-related payments and employee reimbursements
  • Track and manage insurance policy renewals and related documentation
  • Support property/management company transitions, ensuring proper transfer of payables
  • Collaborate with property managers, accounting team, and offshore AP/AR support to drive accuracy and efficiency

Team & Reporting Structure

  • Reports directly to the CFO
  • Works alongside a team of ~20 across accounting, AR/AP, collections, and administration
  • Partners with an offshore AP/AR support team

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 2+ years of Accounts Payable experience (real estate/property management preferred)
  • Experience with systems such as AppFolio, Yardi, or similar
  • Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills
  • High attention to detail with strong organizational and time management abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Compensation & Schedule

  • Pay Rate: $30–$33/hour
  • Expected Salary: ~$70,000 annually
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, (8am-5pm, 40 hour work week
