Position Overview

The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for leading and developing the warehouse team while ensuring the efficient execution of daily warehouse operations. This role focuses heavily on people leadership, including coaching, performance management, and fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and operational excellence. The Warehouse Supervisor oversees receiving, inventory management, picking, packing, and shipping activities while ensuring accuracy, productivity, and customer satisfaction.

This position works closely with Customer Service, Procurement, Logistics, and Operations teams to ensure materials move efficiently through the organization. The Warehouse Supervisor reports directly to the Warehouse Director and supports the execution of departmental goals and performance objectives established by leadership. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who can motivate teams, manage workflow, and continuously improve warehouse processes.

 

Key Responsibilities

People Leadership

  • Lead, coach, and develop warehouse staff to ensure strong performance, engagement, and accountability.
  • Communicate clear job expectations and provide regular coaching and feedback to team members.
  • Monitor employee performance and address concerns in a timely and constructive manner.
  • Promote a positive team environment focused on safety, quality, and operational excellence.
  • Assist with recruiting, onboarding, and training of warehouse personnel.

 

Operational Management

  • Supervise daily warehouse activities including receiving, inventory management, picking, packing, shipping, and replenishment.
  • Assign work and manage staffing levels to ensure operational efficiency and timely order fulfillment.
  • Monitor workflow and productivity to ensure daily performance expectations are consistently met or exceeded.
  • Ensure shipments and inventory transactions are accurate and properly documented.
  • Maintain warehouse organization, cleanliness, and adherence to safety procedures.

 

Inventory & Process Oversight

  • Ensure proper storage, handling, and tracking of inventory within warehouse systems.
  • Monitor inventory accuracy and support cycle counts and physical inventory activities.
  • Analyze warehouse performance metrics and identify opportunities for process improvements.
  • Recommend improvements to warehouse procedures, workflows, and inventory handling practices.

 

Leadership Alignment & Reporting

  • Execute warehouse operational plans and performance goals established by leadership.
  • Provide updates on warehouse performance, staffing needs, workflow challenges, and improvement opportunities.

 

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Coordinate activities with Customer Service, Procurement, Logistics, and Operations teams.
  • Assist with resolving order issues, shipment delays, or inventory discrepancies.
  • Support communication regarding order status and operational priorities.

 

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Warehouse Supervisor, Team Lead, or similar leadership role in a warehouse or distribution environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and motivate teams.
  • Strong understanding of warehouse operations, inventory control, and shipping/receiving processes.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple operational demands.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred.

Equipment & Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift or move materials up to 100 pounds, with or without accommodation.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout warehouse facilities for extended periods.
  • Ability to operate or oversee operation of warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment.

 

Technical Skills

  • Intermediate computer skills required.
  • Experience with warehouse management systems and inventory control software.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Outlook and Excel for reporting and operational tracking.
