Ascendo Resources is currently seeking a Corporate Controller for a full-time, hybrid role. Salary range is $250,000 - $300,000 with a 30% target bonus.

Company Overview:

Our client is a privately-held, multi-billion-dollar diversified holding company with operating businesses across industrial products, energy, defense, supply chain management and logistics, financial services, and youth sports. The organization operates internationally across dozens of locations and is guided by a values-driven, long-term approach to ownership and operations. This is a confidential search conducted exclusively by Ascendo Staffing.

Role Overview:

The Corporate Controller will own the integrity of Corporate and Enterprise-level financial reporting, partnering closely with the CFO on consolidated financial statements, external audit coordination, technical accounting, and internal controls. This is a corporate-level position — the Controller will consolidate financial packages submitted by individual operating companies rather than manage operating company books directly. The role also involves leading process and team-building initiatives, including NetSuite optimization and AI/automation adoption.

Corporate Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Corporate monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, and consolidating eliminations
  • Oversee Corporate accounts payable and expense management, including invoice approval workflows and vendor management
  • Supervise, develop, and review the work of senior and staff accountants
  • Drive accounting department efficiency through SOP documentation and AI/automation initiatives
  • Provide financial analysis to senior executives and support the Corporate forecasting/budgeting process

Enterprise Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review Enterprise financial statements in accordance with GAAP (balance sheet, income statement, statement of equity, footnote disclosures)
  • Prepare and review external financial statements for affiliated entities with reporting obligations
  • Lead annual audited financial statement footnote preparation
  • Coordinate and support external audit activities as primary liaison between operating company accounting teams and external auditors
  • Support technical accounting research and implementation of new standards
  • Maintain the internal controls framework, including quarterly flux reviews and balance sheet reviews
  • Partner cross-functionally with FP&A, Treasury, Tax, and Legal
  • Lead pension accounting and actuarial valuation coordination
  • Review and maintain accounting policies

Team Structure:

  • Reports to the interim SVP of Finance
  • Direct reports: Accounting Manager and Senior Accountant (full-time employees)
  • Additional support: 2 contractors (Senior-level Accountant and AP)

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA required
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including corporate accounting leadership
  • Holding company or multi-entity environment experience strongly preferred
  • Strong technical GAAP knowledge, including consolidations, equity method accounting, and financial statement disclosure
  • Prior experience managing external audit relationships across multi-entity structures
  • Demonstrated people leadership experience supervising senior/staff-level accountants
  • No public company or specific industry experience required
  • Big 4 background a plus
  • Experience with NetSuite or similar ERP systems strongly preferred; experience with AI/automation initiatives a plus
