Licensed MEP Engineer

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Licensed MEP Engineer to join a growing engineering and construction-focused organization. This position will be responsible for the design, coordination, and implementation of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems for commercial building projects.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on MEP design experience, a strong understanding of applicable building codes and engineering standards, and the ability to collaborate effectively with architects, contractors, engineers, and clients throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems for commercial building projects.

• Prepare and review engineering drawings, specifications, calculations, and construction documents.

• Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, and other project stakeholders to coordinate MEP systems with overall building designs.

• Perform engineering calculations to establish system requirements and construction specifications.

• Utilize AutoCAD, Revit, and other engineering/design software to develop project documentation.

• Ensure designs comply with applicable building codes, safety requirements, engineering standards, and regulatory requirements.

• Review construction documents and proposed design modifications for technical accuracy and feasibility.

• Conduct site visits and inspections to verify installations are consistent with approved designs and specifications.

• Identify and resolve design, installation, and coordination issues throughout the construction process.

• Assist with project cost estimates, budgets, and value-engineering initiatives.

• Coordinate with contractors and project teams during construction and respond to technical questions as needed.

• Review engineering standards, specifications, policies, and design details and recommend improvements when appropriate.

• Support projects from initial design through construction completion.

Required Qualifications

• Professional experience designing and coordinating MEP systems.

• Professional engineering license required.

• Strong working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems.

• Experience with commercial building or construction projects.

• Strong understanding of applicable building codes, engineering standards, and construction practices.

• Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or Revit.

• Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings.

• Strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to effectively collaborate with architects, contractors, engineers, clients, and internal project teams.

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related discipline preferred.

• Equivalent relevant engineering experience may be considered.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a hands-on MEP professional who can take ownership of building systems from design and calculation through coordination, construction, and final installation. This individual should be comfortable working across multiple disciplines, identifying constructability issues, collaborating with project teams, and ensuring designs meet both client expectations and applicable code requirements.
