Basic Purpose and Function: With frequent direction from or consultation with buyer and senior buyer co-workers, contact, communicate, establish and develop relationships with suppliers, internal customers and the strategic group. With frequent direction from or consultation with buyer, buyer II and senior buyer co-workers, ensure availability of the correct parts, quantities and deliveries of purchased goods and services to satisfy production needs, business plans and financial constraints. Major Responsibilities:
- Create, place and maintain purchase orders for materials and assists with the coordination of material and part delivery
- Assists with the review and status reporting of assigned open purchase orders and status of delivery of those parts or materials
- Assists with corrective and appropriate actions on schedule conflicts or delays in delivery of required materials to ensure satisfaction of production needs
- Anticipate, identify and communicate issues to appropriate internal and external parties
- Act as liaison between internal customers and external suppliers for engineering issues, quality issues, delivery issues
- Coordinate activities to address and resolve quality issues including processing to recover currency
- Maintain files, system parameters, records and generate periodic reports for distribution and review.
- Provides direct assistance as required to other buyers and supervisor to fulfill financial control and risk management as well reconciling delivery and quantity issues with supplier invoices
- Safety - Maintain departmental housekeeping and 5S standards, perform job functions in a safe manner, wear all PPE required by Company Policy were required, know & follow established job specific and facility wide safety & health procedures and rules, participate in safety and health training & demonstrate competency based on training received, and bring safety and health issues, unsafe acts, and safety suggestions to management’s attention or correct those you can.
