The Account Coordinator provides administrative support to the claims team (claim analysts, stop loss, and benefit configuration specialists), and assists with appeals and pre-determinations.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provides pre-determination support:
    • Determines if it needs to go out for review and then sends it if necessary to the appropriate party.
    • Receives approval from the clients or Account Manager (AM) current contacts to approve cots
  • Participates in claims investigations.
  • Proactively reaches out to providers to request additional information as needed.
  • Facilitates requests from the claims team for additional information needed, i.e., Coordination of Benefit requests.
  • Assists with the appeals process including:
    • If it is non-reference-based pricing, it is sent to the payor to review.
      • Upon response from the payor, review the findings and send out the appropriate letter.
      • File the responses under each client folder.
    • If it is a reference-based pricing appeal, respond to the first level and file responses under each client folder.
      • 2nd level refers to vendor or the person who prices for review.
      • If P2P system does not have an update, refer to eligibility and request that they reach out to the group. 
  • Performs clerical duties as needed, including back up and support to other staff.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exhibits strong problem-solving skills and ability to work autonomously.
  • Has a strong sense of professionalism and personal accountability.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize workload, and manage time well.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe, and other systems related to operations and administration, like CRM.
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Associate degree or higher in a business-related field is highly desirable.
  • Proven experience as an account coordinator, sales coordinator, or similar role.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
