A leading global financial services firm is seeking an Accounting Manager to join its team. This individual will play a key role in managing the compensation line of the P&L, one of the organization’s most closely monitored and impactful expenses reviewed by senior leadership. This hybrid role is based in the Financial District with an annual salary of up to $140,000.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 2+ years in a supervisory capacity
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Responsibilities:
- Supervise the compensation team, providing guidance and support to ensure tasks are completed accurately and efficiently.
- Oversee and review monthly compensation calculations across multiple divisions, ensuring timely and accurate reporting on the balance sheet and P&L.
- Review broker contract changes monthly and update compensation calculations to maintain accurate bonus accruals.
- Assist in reviewing, distributing, and communicating broker commission calculations to Desk Heads and Senior Management.
- Maintain accurate records for all Equity Plans and ensure compliance with reporting requirements.
- Communicate deferral bonus amounts to Desk Heads, Senior Management, Payroll, and Human Resources.
- Partner with stakeholders to provide requested information related to equity plans.
- Review monthly journal entries for employee-related activities, including bonuses, COBRA, insurance, medical/dental benefits, and pension.
- Prepare and submit annual budgets and forecasts related to compensation.
- Review monthly equity plan accruals and other payroll-related balance sheet accounts.
- Collaborate with the Controls & Governance team to identify process gaps and ensure compliance with established controls.
- Lead and support process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy in the compensation function.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing reconciliations and documentation for compensation accounting.
- Conduct ad-hoc analyses and contribute to special projects as needed.
