Cost Accountant – Manufacturing Industry | Remote (Based in Denver, CO or Jacksonville, FL)

Compensation: $90,000 base salary
Work Arrangement:
Remote (must reside in or near Denver, CO or Jacksonville, FL)

About the Role:

The Cost Accountant plays a key role in maintaining the financial integrity of the organization’s operations by analyzing production costs, identifying variances, and supporting continuous improvement in cost efficiency. This role partners closely with finance and operations teams to develop accurate cost models, manage fixed and variable cost data, and ensure timely month-end and year-end closings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Compile, analyze, and maintain cost data across departments.
  • Develop and refine systems for cost accumulation and tracking.
  • Calculate and monitor fixed costs such as salaries, rent, and insurance.
  • Forecast, plan, and record variable costs including materials, labor, and production overhead.
  • Conduct variance analysis to identify cost discrepancies and recommend corrective actions.
  • Prepare and distribute departmental and company-wide budgeting and profitability reports.
  • Support monthly and annual closing processes.
  • Provide cost data and insights for pricing, product development, and marketing teams.
  • Manage and maintain fixed asset records.
  • Recommend cost optimization strategies to leadership.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Minimum 3 years of cost accounting experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and cost accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and related accounting systems.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with NetSuite ERP.
  • Exposure to process improvement or lean manufacturing environments.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.
