Accounts Payable Specialist – Real Estate Development (Miami, FL)

Overview:
A leading real estate development company in Miami is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Specialist to join its growing finance team. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and experienced in handling high-volume vendor transactions within the construction or real estate development industry. This role plays a key part in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring timely payments to vendors and contractors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process a high volume of invoices related to construction projects, development costs, and general operations.

  • Perform 3-way matching (PO, invoice, and receipt) to ensure accuracy and proper approvals.

  • Review and code invoices to the correct projects, cost centers, and GL accounts.

  • Manage vendor relationships, respond to inquiries, and resolve billing discrepancies promptly.

  • Prepare weekly check runs, ACH payments, and wire transfers.

  • Reconcile vendor statements and maintain accurate vendor files.

  • Assist with month-end closing activities, including accruals and expense reconciliations.

  • Collaborate with project managers and the accounting team to ensure accurate job costing and reporting.

  • Maintain compliance with company policies and internal controls.

Qualifications:

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.

  • 2–5 years of Accounts Payable experience; real estate development or construction industry background strongly preferred.

  • Proficiency in Excel and ERP/accounting systems (Yardi, Sage 300, or similar a plus).

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
