Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Senior Accountant to support our accounting operations with a focus on general accounting and real estate-related transactions. The ideal candidate has strong technical accounting skills, experience with month-end close, and exposure to real estate accounting processes such as CAM reconciliations, lease accounting, and property-level reporting. This role will play a key part in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with accounting standards.
Key Responsibilities
General Accounting

Manage the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements.

Maintain the general ledger and ensure all transactions are properly recorded.

Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.

Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and reporting.
Real Estate Accounting (Preferred Experience)

Assist with accounting for real estate assets, including tracking capital expenditures and property operating expenses.

Support lease accounting tasks such as rent schedules, straight-line rent, and tenant billing.

Perform or assist with CAM (Common Area Maintenance) reconciliations and year-end tenant reconciliations.

Prepare property-level financials and support inquiries from asset managers, property managers, and external partners.
Compliance & Process Improvement

Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies.

Identify opportunities to streamline processes and enhance internal controls.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, finance, and property management.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

3–6+ years of progressive accounting experience.

Real estate accounting experience strongly preferred (commercial, residential, or mixed-use).

Strong understanding of GAAP and month-end close requirements.

Proficiency in accounting software (Yardi, MRI, QuickBooks, Sage, or similar a plus).

Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, formulas).

Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

CPA or CPA-track preferred but not required.
