Mission driven nonprofit is seeking a Controller who is passionate and detail oriented. This organization is currently holds 25 years in the NYC area. It is a fulltime remote opportunity which will assist the Director of Finance and Operations in all areas of Financial Compliance. They have a budget of approximately $3.6M. 

This exciting opportunity will work with  government Contract deadlines, staff supervision, audit and annual Budget preparation. The ideal candidate holds the following:

• 3+ years of work experience in a non profit setting required
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting. MBA and CPA or candidate.
• Advanced Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel required

The day to day responsibilities are as followed but not limited to :

• Perform monthly analysis of Fund EZ Trial Balance accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance with procedures 
• Oversee monthly closings and prepare monthly closing journal entries
• Prepare adjusting Journal entries and monthly Govt contract reclasses in Fund EZ accounting system
• Review, prepare, and adjust monthly allocations which include Overhead, Salaries and Benefits expenses entered into the Accounting software
• Review salaries allocations to ensure proper invoicing  
• Perform monthly Bank reconciliations
• Oversee and assist with the Preparation of monthly invoices for Government contracts
• Assist with the preparation of Contract Budgets and Modifications
• Assist with Government Annual Audits and oversee interim Monitoring visits preparation as needed
• Assist with Annual Budget preparation, entering program/Department Budgets into Fund EZ Accounting Software
• Issue Monthly Program budget vs  Actual reports 
• Prepare schedules and other requested reporting for the Agency annual Audit
