Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Controller to lead the accounting and financial operations for a growing, operations-driven business within the agriculture/food & beverage space. This role will oversee day-to-day accounting, financial reporting, and internal controls while partnering closely with leadership to support business growth and operational decision-making.

The ideal candidate has experience in manufacturing, agriculture, food production, or beverage environments and is comfortable working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and month-end/year-end close

  • Prepare and review accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with GAAP

  • Manage budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis

  • Ensure proper cost accounting, inventory controls, and margin analysis

  • Maintain and improve internal controls, policies, and procedures

  • Oversee cash flow management and financial planning

  • Coordinate with external partners including auditors, tax advisors, and banking institutions

  • Support ERP/accounting system maintenance, integrations, and process improvements

  • Partner with leadership to provide financial insights that support operational and strategic decisions

  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

  • Accounting experience, including Controller or Assistant Controller responsibilities

  • Experience in agriculture, food & beverage, manufacturing, distribution, or CPG environments strongly preferred

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting

  • Hands-on experience with inventory, cost accounting, and operational finance

  • Proficiency with accounting/ERP systems (QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or similar)

  • Advanced Excel skills

  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to work independently

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
