Position Summary
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Paralegal to support their public benefits practice. The Paralegal will assist attorneys and advocates in representing clients applying for, maintaining, or appealing public benefits, including government assistance programs. This role requires strong organizational skills, strong client communication abilities, and familiarity with administrative procedures.
Key Responsibilities

Conduct client intake interviews and gather relevant financial, medical, and household documentation

Assist clients in completing applications and recertifications for public benefits programs

Prepare and file administrative appeals and hearing requests

Draft correspondence, legal documents, and case summaries for attorney review

Maintain organized client files (electronic and physical)

Communicate with government agencies regarding case status and documentation requirements

Track deadlines for appeals, renewals, and hearings

Assist attorneys in preparing for administrative hearings

Conduct legal and policy research related to public benefits eligibility

Provide referrals to community resources when appropriate

Qualifications
Required:
-
1–3 years of paralegal or legal assistant experience (public interest or administrative law experience preferred)

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and case management systems
Preferred:

Experience working with low-income or vulnerable populations

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree; Paralegal certificate preferred

Knowledge of public benefits systems and administrative hearing processes

Bilingual skills (language proficiency a plus)
