Job Title: Medical Collections / AR Specialist

Position Overview
We are seeking a Medical Collections / Accounts Receivable Specialist to support healthcare revenue cycle operations. This role is responsible for insurance follow-up, resolving unpaid claims, and reducing aged accounts receivable.
The ideal candidate has experience working within medical billing or revenue cycle management and is comfortable communicating with insurance payers to resolve outstanding claims.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform accounts receivable follow-up on unpaid or denied medical claims
- Contact insurance carriers to research claim status and resolve payment issues
- Work aging AR reports to reduce outstanding balances
- Investigate and resolve denials, underpayments, and claim rejections
- Submit appeals and corrected claims when necessary
- Utilize payer portals and internal systems to track claim activity
- Maintain detailed notes and documentation on all collection activities
- Collaborate with internal billing and revenue cycle teams to resolve discrepancies
Qualifications
- 1–3+ years of medical billing, medical collections, or AR follow-up experience
- Strong understanding of insurance claim lifecycle and denial management
- Experience working with payer portals and healthcare billing systems
- Ability to analyze EOBs and remittance advice
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- High attention to detail and ability to manage aging accounts
- Preferred Experience
- Experience with physician billing, hospital billing, or healthcare revenue cycle operations
- Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance guidelines
