Marine Terminal Operations Manager

About the Role
A growing maritime logistics operation is seeking an experienced Marine Terminal Operations Manager to lead day-to-day terminal activities. This role is responsible for overseeing vessel loading and unloading, coordinating yard operations, and ensuring safe, efficient cargo movement. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership, operational awareness, and a commitment to safety and compliance in a fast-paced port environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily terminal operations, including vessel loading/unloading and yard coordination
- Coordinate closely with internal teams and shipping partners to ensure efficient cargo flow
- Enforce safety standards and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including OSHA and Coast Guard guidelines
- Plan and allocate labor and equipment resources based on operational needs
- Conduct routine inspections of terminal equipment and operational areas
- Troubleshoot delays or operational challenges and communicate updates to stakeholders
- Maintain accurate operational records, reports, and performance metrics
- Support emergency response procedures and environmental compliance initiatives
- Train, mentor, and develop terminal personnel to promote a strong safety culture
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; degree in logistics, maritime studies, or related field preferred
- Minimum 3 years of experience in marine terminal or port operations
- At least 1 year of supervisory or leadership experience
- Strong knowledge of cargo handling, terminal logistics, and port operations
- Bilingual in English and Spanish required
- Familiarity with regulatory standards (OSHA, DOT, Coast Guard, CBP)
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and terminal/logistics systems
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays
Work Environment
- Combination of indoor and outdoor work within a marine terminal setting
- Exposure to varying weather conditions, noise, and heavy equipment
- Physically active role requiring walking, climbing, and occasional lifting
