Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Staff Accountant to join our accounting team. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the company’s financial records, supporting month-end and year-end close processes, and providing timely financial analysis and reporting. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong technical accounting skills and a collaborative mindset.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis
- Prepare and analyze general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP (or relevant accounting standards)
- Manage fixed asset accounting, including capitalization, depreciation, and disposals
- Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports
- Support the preparation and coordination of external audits and tax filings
- Review and approve journal entries and reconciliations prepared by junior staff
- Monitor and analyze accounting processes for efficiency and recommend improvements
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and regulatory requirements
- Collaborate with other departments (Operations, FP&A, HR, etc.) to provide accurate financial data and support decision-making
- Participate in special projects, such as system implementations, process automation, or acquisitions
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
- CPA license (or actively pursuing) strongly preferred
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience (public accounting or industry mix preferred)
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting requirements
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, etc.)
- Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite, SAP, QuickBooks, Sage, or similar) required
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- High attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in [industry-specific, e.g., manufacturing, SaaS, professional services, etc.] accounting
- Familiarity with SOX compliance (if applicable)
- Experience with financial system implementations or automation tools (e.g., BlackLine, Alteryx, Power BI)
