Accounting Assistant (Temporary Coverage)
Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Accounting Assistant to provide temporary coverage support to the accounting department. This role assists with day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with internal policies and standard accounting practices. The ideal candidate is organized, adaptable, and able to quickly step into ongoing processes with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with daily accounting functions including accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR)
- Process invoices, expense reports, and payment requests accurately and in a timely manner
- Perform data entry and maintain accurate financial records in accounting systems
- Reconcile bank statements, vendor accounts, and general ledger accounts as needed
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities
- Review financial documents for accuracy, completeness, and proper coding
- Communicate with vendors, internal departments, and customers to resolve discrepancies
- Assist with filing, documentation, and maintaining organized financial records
- Support audits by gathering and organizing required documentation
- Perform other administrative and accounting tasks as assigned
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field preferred
- 1–2+ years of accounting or bookkeeping experience preferred
- Basic understanding of accounting principles (debits, credits, reconciliations)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and general accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle, or similar)
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Good communication and problem-solving skills
Additional Information:
- Temporary assignment (duration to be specified)
- May require flexibility during month-end or peak periods
- Training will be provided on internal systems and processes
