Ascendo Resources is seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Temporary Staff Accountant for a 3-6 month assignment with one of our valued clients in Austin, TX. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual looking to gain valuable accounting experience and contribute to a supportive finance team. The role offers a blend of core accounting responsibilities and essential operational support.

Assignment Details:

• Duration: Up to 6 months
• Pay Rate: $25.00 – $28.00/hour
• Location: On-site in Austin, TX

Key Responsibilities:

As a Temporary Staff Accountant, you will be instrumental in maintaining financial accuracy and supporting daily operations. Your responsibilities will include:

Accounting & Financial Tasks:

• Processing accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions precisely and promptly.
• Preparing and recording journal entries as needed to ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Reconciling bank accounts and credit card statements to verify transaction integrity.
• Assisting with crucial month-end and year-end close activities.
• Maintaining accurate, organized, and accessible financial records.
• Supporting audit preparations by gathering documentation and assisting with schedule creation.

Operational & Manual Tasks:

• Efficiently opening, sorting, and distributing incoming mail.
• Preparing outgoing mail and managing postage supplies.
• Cashing checks and preparing bank deposits as required.
• Organizing and filing physical documents, including invoices, receipts, and statements.
• Assisting with scanning, copying, and digitizing financial records for accessibility.
• Performing other administrative or manual tasks that contribute to the accounting team’s smooth workflow.

Qualifications:

• 0-3 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience preferred.
• Basic understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and standard accounting procedures.
• Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., Workday or similar platforms) is a significant plus.
• Demonstrated strong attention to detail and unwavering commitment to accuracy.
• Comfortable managing physical tasks such as mail processing and bank errands.
• Proven ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information with discretion.
• Strong organizational and time management skills to balance multiple tasks effectively.
