Position Summary
The Staff Accountant will support the finance team in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with nonprofit accounting standards, and contributing to financial reporting and analysis. This role is ideal for recent graduates as well as candidates with several years of accounting experience who are looking to build or expand their careers in the nonprofit sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain general ledger entries and reconciliations
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
  • Support preparation of financial statements and internal reports
  • Track and reconcile grant funding and restricted funds
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards
  • Support audits and assist with preparation of audit schedules
  • Process accounts payable and receivable as needed
  • Maintain accurate financial documentation and records

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required)
  • 0–5+ years of accounting experience (internships included for entry-level candidates)
  • Understanding of basic accounting principles; knowledge of nonprofit accounting is a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with accounting software preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a nonprofit organization
  • Familiarity with fund accounting and grant reporting
