A well-established nonprofit organization based in Manhattan is seeking a Property Accountant to join their team. This role offers the opportunity to oversee accounting operations for a portfolio of affordable housing entities while managing a small team and partnering closely with leadership.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee general ledger accounting and month-end close for an assigned portfolio
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements with variance analysis
• Manage annual audits, budget preparation, and funder compliance reporting
• Supervise and mentor a team of 2 Senior Accountants
• Review journal entries, bank reconciliations, accruals, and fixed asset schedules
• Monitor cash activity, escrow accounts, and funding draws
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, partnership agreements, and LIHTC requirements
• Partner with Asset Management and Operations teams on property performance

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
• 5+ years of low-income/affordable housing real estate accounting experience
• Proficiency in Yardi and Excel
