We are seeking a detail-oriented Lease Accountant to join our accounting team in Miami. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing lease accounting activities in compliance with ASC 842 standards, maintaining accurate lease records, preparing reconciliations, and supporting month-end close processes. This role will partner closely with accounting, finance, real estate, and operations teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain lease accounting schedules for operating and finance leases in accordance with ASC 842.
- Prepare monthly journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules related to lease activity.
- Review and analyze lease agreements to determine proper accounting treatment.
- Record lease liabilities, right-of-use (ROU) assets, amortization, and related adjustments.
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.
- Assist with external and internal audit requests related to lease accounting.
- Ensure completeness and accuracy of lease data within the lease accounting system.
- Partner with cross-functional departments including legal, real estate, procurement, and operations to obtain and validate lease information.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, controls, and reporting efficiencies.
- Prepare financial reports and variance analysis for management review.
- Maintain compliance with company policies, GAAP, and internal controls.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CPA preferred.
- 3+ years of accounting experience, with lease accounting or real estate accounting experience strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of ASC 842 lease accounting standards.
- Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or Yardi preferred.
- Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical abilities.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

- Public company experience.
- Experience working with large lease portfolios.
- Knowledge of SOX compliance and internal controls.
- Experience supporting audits and financial reporting processes.
